My Backcountry Ski Jaunt
My brother lives in Squaw Valley, CA and I trekked up there this weekend for a couple of day trips skiing in the backcountry. I definitely don’t do enough backcountry skiing- but I don’t do enough of a lot of things, so this was a weekend to savor for another year. Climbing on skis is totally different from every other activity I do. It is incredibly high energy, but extremely slow...

Exclusive First Look: Masi SoulVille SS | Commute... →
Really pretty single speed cruiser bike from Masi. I’d call it a cafe racer but they already have a different model with that name. Either way, it’s fun to see a company nail a product. The neo-retro styling is clean, simple and striking. Nice.

“Do, or do not. There is no try.”
– I say this to my kids all the time when they say they’ll “try” to make their beds, etc. It’s funny that a hackneyed, prosaic directive becomes a spiritual touchstone just by fracturing the syntax. But hey, work it does. -Jay Yoda via One More Thought on Getting A VC’s...

Velodrome Love
This is a GPS-tracked record of my afternoon spent track racing.  It’s pretty safe to say that GPS is less useful for riding-around-in-ovals activities than some others. The part at the bottom shows how hard I was working.  I raced 5 times and my heart rate was at close to 190 for almost all of them.  Fun stuff.

Another Lawyer Joke
See here for the first one: ————- A Mafia Godfather finds out that his bookkeeper has cheated him out of ten million bucks. His bookkeeper is deaf. That was the reason he got the job in the first place. It was assumed that a deaf bookkeeper would not hear anything that he might have to testify about in court. When the Godfather goes to confront the bookkeeper about his...

Thoughts about whether Obama should or shouldn't...
What he said.  This whole brouhaha is silly.  bijan: There has been a loud response to Obama’s speech on race. You can find opinions everywhere. Fundamentally, I think that if you were against Obama before the Rev Wright statements than you are still are against him and nothing is going to change that. I do believe the speech was aimed at those that are undecided and those that were in the...
