Blackberry on Zimbra: I Never Knew How Good I Had It with my Treo
I just switched from Treo to Blackberry on Zimbra- my provider upgraded to Zimbra 5.0 and it seems not to play well with Palm-based Treos everywhere.
Zimbra doesn’t support Blackberry Enterprise Server and the workaround is a 3rd party program called NotifyLink.
I’m still working with it, but it seems clear that I had true “push” using the Chatteremail client for Palm, but NotifyLink will only poll 1x/minute. I got a kick out of seeing mail hit my Treo before my desktop mail.
Chatter also made my Treo’s LED blink when I had new messages. Blackberry doesn’t do this under any circumstances that I can see. I’ll miss that too.
Sour grapes. Yuck. On the other hand, Treo never managed to over-the-air sync my calendar/contacts. It looks like NotifyLink will do that, so there’s something.
