Plug-and-play music player?

I posted my wish for a “universal calendar language” here, so that my Zimbra calendar could share with my wife’s Yahoo and someone else’s Google.

I also wished for an open web-music standard for favorites so I don’t have to re-enter my favorite groups on every new app I try.  Sonicliving’s favorites page would do nicely.

What I’ve realized I’d like even more, though, is a universal player.  Enter your account info for Pandora, Last.fm, iLike, Hype Machine, Tumblr “follows” and anything else, and it’ll all stream from the same place and have the same controls, always with links to easy artist info and purchase/downloads.

And since 90% of people who download music have iTunes installed, why can’t we just use it as the controller?  Maybe once DRM finally dies the horrible death it deserves Apple will be free to work on that.
